News from Nowhere (Warbler Classics Annotated Edition) - William Morris

News from Nowhere is a visionary utopian novel that chronicles a time traveler's quest for love and friendship in a future ideal world. Nowhere is in fact a literal translation of the word utopia. This compelling, imaginative narrative envisions a socialist society that values community, nature, and artistic creativity over industry and capitalism. It is also a refutation of the social values and aesthetic convictions presented in Edward Bellamy's Looking Backward (1888), in which another time traveler journeys through a futuristic utopia. First published in 1890, News from Nowhere has remained a seminal work of political literature and a touchstone for utopian thought. This Warbler Classics edition includes commentary by Lewis Mumford on classic utopian narratives as well as a detailed biographical timeline. nn n nn
