The Kentucky Tendon Boots Bamboo Elastic are tendon boots for the front legs, with a TPU outer shell, a bamboo insert at tendon height and two elastic straps. Kentucky built them around a sturdy shell with plenty of airflow. This version has an open 3D Spacer lining. Available in black, brown and old rose, in three sizes. About these tendon boots The outside is a TPU shell: a plastic hard enough to take a knock and still light. The shell has several ventilation holes at tendon height and, lower down, a larger triangular mesh panel. Those openings let air through, so heat and moisture can escape from under the shell. At tendon height, Kentucky reinforces the shell with an insert of bamboo fibre, the so-called bamboo shield. Kentucky states that this insert counters the penetration of sharp objects and tests that itself on its own drop rig. Where the leg flexes there is a soft natural rubber insert that counters rubbing. The inside of the shell is reinforced once more with an additional layer of TPU, at the spot where most of the wear occurs. Against the skin, this version has a 3D Spacer lining: a three-dimensional knitted spacer fabric with an open structure, the same material Kentucky also uses in its 3D spacer rugs and boots. That lining is flat and airy. If you would rather have a full, soft pile against the skin, the same boot with a vegan wool lining is the alternative. You fasten them with two elastic straps, each with a stud fastening and a row of holes that let you choose the tension. With this, Kentucky places the model explicitly alongside its version with hook-and-loop fastening: the same boot, a different fastening system. An elastic fastening gives with the movement, but it does ask you to choose the right setting beforehand: there is no adjusting once you are out. The limits: this is a model for the front legs and does not belong on the hind legs. The shell covers a large part of the cannon, so it does stay warmer than a bare cannon, ventilation holes or not. And a TPU shell scratches: sand and grit leave marks on the glossy outside over time.
