The BR Ultimo are tendon boots for the front legs with an anatomically shaped polyurethane outside, a soft neoprene lining and rubber quick-release fastenings on an elastic strap. You set them in one of three positions, with no hook-and-loop. Meant for riders who take the boots on and off often and want them on the same setting every time. About these tendon boots The fastening system is the reason to choose this model. The Ultimo does not work with hook-and-loop, but with rubber quick-release fastenings on an elastic strap. You click them on and off in one movement, even with gloves on, and you set them in one of three positions. That last point is the practical difference with hook-and-loop: hook-and-loop lets you close the boot slightly differently every time, whereas a quick-release fastening on position two sits the same every time. Once you know which position suits your horse, there is no more guesswork. The shell. The outside is anatomically shaped polyurethane and therefore follows the shape of the lower leg. It lies over the tendon and runs around the fetlock, and takes whatever comes against that part of the leg: a hind hoof that strikes in, a brushing hoof, a pole. The lining. On the inside there is soft, shock-absorbing neoprene. That is pleasant against the leg and takes part of the blow, but it also seals: under a closed shell with a neoprene lining it gets warmer and damper than under an open bandage. The Ultimo has no ventilation openings. On long summer sessions, that is something to allow for. The composition BR states is 100% polyurethane for the outside and 100% polychloroprene (neoprene) as the second material. The rubber does need an eye kept on it. Rubber and elastic are the parts that wear out over time on this type of fastening, so take a look at them while you are cleaning: small tears in the rubber or a strap that has stretched are things you would rather notice in the stable than out on the grounds. Otherwise care is simple: machine washable up to 30 °C in a wash bag with a delicate detergent, not in the tumble dryer. We stock the Ultimo in black, brown and navy, in sizes Pony, Cob and Full. Note two boundaries: a tendon boot belongs on the front legs, and for the hind legs you use fetlock boots; and in the international dressage arena boots are forbidden, so they have to come off before you ride into the space around the competition arena. BR itself says nothing about competition use for this model.
