Hot Empire of Chile

Cultural Writing. Latino/Latina Studies. Journalist Kent Ian Paterson takes us on a journey into the heart of chile culture. He delves not only into the history of the chile plant itself, but also examines the role of migrant farm labor, the problems faced by farm workers and the influence of labor movements. Additional chapters focus on the impact of university research on chile breeding, the use of pesticides, the salsa wars, changes in U.S. eating habits, the absorption of small farms and chile processors by conglomerate agribusiness and the impact of NAFTA.
